About SurfersInfo & camera sources

Long Beach surf at the center, with beach-camera sources around the world.

Why I’m building SurfersInfo

I’m finally building a surfing blog and travel website, starting with Long Beach and Long Island, keeping the East Coast close, and exploring beach cameras around the world. I want it to be a useful place to check the cameras, find surf-report sources and plan time at the beach. The stories here are researched planning guides; personal trip reports will be identified when there is a real experience to share.

What you can find here

SurfersInfo is an independent directory built around two jobs: finding an ocean-facing beach view and making that view useful for a real trip. Long Beach and nearby provider links come first, followed by Long Island cameras and selected New England, New Jersey, Carolina and Atlantic Florida beach views. The worldwide map adds selected operator pages across seven regions; coverage is selective, not a complete inventory.

What our camera labels mean

Capture time unknown means the preview service has not supplied a camera timestamp. The browser requests YouTube’s live-thumbnail image every minute for visible tiles when refresh is enabled. A newly loaded image may still be cached. Some provider images are promotional covers or older frames. Labels distinguish cover art; we cannot certify these previews as recent shots.

Preview unavailable means the image did not load or was too small to be useful. No stock or generated beach image replaces it. Featured Long Island tiles use the same provider images and availability handling as the full camera wall. The player can still be checked separately. A label indicating player activity describes playback during this visit, not the age of the footage.

Long Beach, Lido and Fire Island

The public provider pages are linked prominently. Skudin and Allegria played on their owner pages during our October 25 check; this does not establish capture freshness or continuous availability. A licensed Long Beach snapshot feed and on-site player are not connected. The featured picture tiles below those two links are separate Long Island alternatives, labeled with their actual beaches. Provider links open a new tab; your SurfersInfo page remains open.

How the camera list was checked

Latest player audit: 21 of 23 checked East Coast embeds passed availability, embedding and live-stream-capability metadata checks (October 30, 2026). Unavailable players are paused with their source pages retained. These checks do not verify moving playback or preview capture times.

Retired Main Beach and Tiana broadcast IDs remain excluded; their operator-published replacement streams are listed. Unavailable Wildwood Crest, offline North Vilano, boardwalk-focused and unverified older feeds stay excluded. Camera owners can change video IDs or disable a feed later. The player handles errors visibly and keeps the credited owner link available.

World map, public controls & storm sources

The worldwide atlas links official camera owners and offers an on-site player only where a supported integration is available. Source-review dates are not capture times. Public-control sources are included only when the operator documents viewer controls or a queue; the controls run on the operator’s site. Storm Watch shows recent worldwide GDACS tropical cyclone report locations and selected active severe NWS warnings/watches for the US and territories, with camera sources nearby. Source times and coverage gaps stay visible; it is not a complete global warning service. Cyclone glows are location markers, not storm boundaries. The separate geographic collections below do not assert active storms. GDACS data credit: European Union, CC BY 4.0; NWS/NOAA alert data.

What adds value here

Our original field guides explain camera evidence, Long Island access systems and NOAA sources. The surf planner keeps your own observations and checks together. These tools do not produce a local forecast or declare water safe. Read our editorial policy for sourcing and corrections.
